We had found issues with carbon generation with the X-Cess oil in some direct injection applications. Yes, we have switched many of these cars over to the X-Clean EFE 5W30 oil. So I also reached out to IAG to confirm this fact and this was the email I received today from Adam at IAG: They informed me that after some discussion with IAG they switched to Motul 8100 5W30 X-Clean EFE for their DIT applications because an additive in the X-Cess was causing carbon build up on the pistons. Turns out Bren Tuning also was experiencing issues with a high HP WRX they worked on also running the Motul 8100 5W40 X-Cess. So I made an appointment with Bren Tuning for the 30k maintenance for: Walnut Blasting/Tranny Svc/Rear Diff Svc/Spark Plugs/oil change. The past few months I was experiencing some unusual detonation issues that even resulted in my DAM dropping. I have been running Motul 5W40 X-Cess 8100 for about 30k miles.
